Ontario resident parents are now able to apply for financial support while Ontario schools and child care centres are closed. This support was created to allow parents to access additional tools for kids to learn at home while they start to learn remotely.
This is a one-time payment of $200 per child aged 0 to 12 years old, and $250 for those aged 0 to 21 years old with special needs.
Eligibility
- Custodial parents of children aged 0 to 12, or custodial parents of children or youth aged 0 to 21 with special needs.
- No income cap.
*If you have more than one child, you must submit one application per child.
*Only one parent can apply for each child and the parent should have custody.
*Health care or front-line workers who have children in emergency, 24-hour child care centres are also eligible.
How to apply?
- Through the online application: Ontario’s Support for Families web page (https://www.ontario.ca/page/get-support-families).
- There are steps online about how to compete the application. You will need your child’s school and school board (if applicable), child’s birth date, banking information, and a valid email address.
Already Receiving Support for Parents Payments Through Direct Deposit?
- These parents are automatically eligible for financial support and do not need submit a new application if they have already been receiving Support for Parents.
