There is an increase in the eye exam rate from $43.80 to $51.10. This new rate will take effect May 1, 2019 and will apply to eye exams occurring on or after this date.
There is also an increase/changes to the coverage for the purchase of prescription eyewear
- The Standard allowance for clients with single vision or bifocal prescriptions will be $275.
- The High index allowance will be $415.

UPDATE – JUNE 2019
On June 29th, 2019, NIHB will make changes to coverage of corrective eyewear (glasses and contact lenses). These changes will make it easier to understand your coverage and will offer more choice – you will be able to use your coverage towards the purchase of any type of prescription eyewear.
